Wonderful colours in Glen Etive, Argyll River Etive, Glen Etive
Autumn in Glencoe, a little stream at the foot of Buachaille Etive Mor Lagangarbh, Glencoe
Along the beautiful River Etive towards Ben Starav (3536ft)
I found this idyllic location just after dawn and in just enough time to set up for the ten minutes or so of muted colour and decent light... I will return to this wonderful part of the river...
Across the river Etive to Ben Starav

Those who know me know that my camera is almost welded to my tripod... and I almost never shoot anything that may move, other than water...so this handheld shot of the Red deer in Glen Etive is a rarity...
Another rarity is to get the deer to pose with a decent view in the background... thank goodness for the two bananas that I had with me... Red Deer , Glen Etive
Looking on to Sron na Creise from a tributary of the River Etive, early morning light spreading across Rannoch moor lights up the scene... Sron na Creise from the 'Cauldron'
Looking down a tributary of the River Etive towards Buachaille Etive Mor Buachaille Etive Mor , Glencoe
A view down one of the many streams towards Glencoe with Buachaille Etive Mor on the left... Buachaille Etive Mor from Rannoch Moor...
One of my favourite images... taken in the early morning light that reaches down Rannoch moor, catching the top of the Falls, that I call the 'Cauldron'... not the easiest of shots taken from near the centre of the falls... The mountain in the background is Sron Na Creise...
Processed as an HDR image in photomatix, a rarity now... Sron na Creise from the 'Cauldron'
Found this wonderful little loch in rural Perthshire, just as the sun came up.. needed a three RAW converted HDR to balance the light and tones... Perthshire...
One from last year... a perfect crisp spring morning in Glen Etive, Argyll Spring in Glen Etive...
A shot of my favourite mountain in the Glencoe area, Sron na Creise from the River Coupall Sron na Creise
Eventually managed to get out for a few hours... not the best day, but i liked this one from Rannoch Moor, looking on to Black Mount... I like the textures and subtle graduated light in this image... Black Mount, Rannoch Moor
The weather has been very poor lately, and this was a brief respite and a little early light that quickly gave way to another grey day... Early Light on Rannoch Moor...
Spent a lovely day on Rannoch Moor with some photography friends... I am glad we got decent weather, although when taking this image, I had a stinking hangover from socialising with them the night before... I Love the moor in its Autumn colours... a pretty good place to lie in the moor and nurse a sore head... Autumn on the Moor...
Another rework from the archives in my attempt to update my image library... taken in February 2008 across Loch na Stainge and Rannoch Moor onto Black Mount in the distance... Black Mount from Lochan na Stainge...
I remember this image from my archives... i was actually sheltering under the bank of the stream in the river trying to get out of the rain and sleet shower blowing over Rannoch Moor... when i noticed the view up the steam and onto the mountains of Glencoe Ski resort and Meall a' Bhùiridh... I can still feel the chill... never has the term 'long exposure' been more appropriate... Colours of Rannoch Moor...
Working through my archives trying to update the images i had originally done as HDR... a low angle on this iconic spot on Rannoch Moor, with half of the River Coupall in my wellies...
I love the rich colour of the geology in this part of Scotland. Buachaille Etive Mòr
From my archives of a few years ago, taken at Loch Tulla, Argyll... I thought the scale of the photographer <a href="http://www.jon-gibbs.co.uk">John Gibbs</a> showed the wonderful majesty of this lovely place... The lonliness of the landscape photographer...
Anyone who has ever shot in Scotland, and particularly on Rannoch Moor will recognise this now extinct Icon... blown down in a gale a couple of years ago, it was probably one of the most photographed scenes in the UK... found in my archives from a few years ago and worked on due to the poor weather recently... When the wind blows...
Time and tide have taken their toll on this little dinghy, taken near Callanish, on my recent trip home to the Isle of Lewis... Abandoned...
Another image fro my recent trip home to the Isle of Lewis.... these stones are commonly shot in silhouette, but i thought the subtle light in this dark sunrise image worked quite well... Calanais 1
Another image from my trip to Rannoch Mor at the weekend... Rannoch Moor Winter...
The beauty and majesty of Glencoe today belies the tragic news of the loss of life yesterday, when four climbers were killed after being caught in an avalanche whilst descending Bidean nam Bian... (beyond the Buachaille Etive Mor, on the left)...

When winter grips the mountains in a vice,
Silently stifling with its pall of snow,
Checking the streams, draping the rocks in ice,
Still to their mantled summits I would go.

Sun-drenched, I sense the message they impart;
Storm-lashed, I hear it sing through every vein;
Among the snows it whispers to my heart
“Here is your freedom. Taste - and come again"

from..."Freedom of the hills"

An early morning view I had always loved on the Isle of Lewis of Loch Valtos, near Laxay... before i took up photography... taken on my recent trip home... Loch Valtos Fishing Hut...

Another image from my recent trip to the Outer Hebrides... a ruin at Callanish... Callanish ruin..
An image from early last year taken in Glen Etive... requiring three biscuits and a banana to lure the creatures closer... who knew Red Deer love bananas?...
It is rare to get a shot of theses deer without a road or telegraph poles in the background so i was delighted with the lovely backdrop... Glen Etive, Argyll
One of the most spectacular megalithic sites in Scotland. The overall design of the monument is similar to the Celtic cross and the cruciform chambers of many Neolithic passage mounds.
The Callanish-I stone-circle was built so that the moon, at its major standstill appears to rise and set from behind the hills of Harris which are as much a part of the monument as the stones themselves.
Callanish has been associated with both lunar and solar astronomy Winter sunrise, Callanish, Isle of Lewis
A ruined house near Callanish , Isle of Lewis, looking over Loch Roag... showing the lovely muted winter colours of the islands... Callanish Ruin
For many years, as a youngster i always loved this view over the Soval Estate on the Isle of Lewis... this is the first chance I have had to reproduce it as an image, and had a lovely couple of hours shooting in this beautiful part of the world... Soval Estate, Isle of Lewis, Outer Hebrides
Having spent the last week on the isle of Lewis, at a family wedding, I only had one days shooting opportunity before the celebrations... the beautiful winters light and the endless skies in this part of the world made for a lovely selection of images, this first one is from the famous Callanish Standing Stones where the low winters sun lit the scene sublimely... Callanish Standing Stones, Isle of Lewis, Outer Hebrides...
After the recent success of this image, or rather, a similar image being commended in the <a href="http://davidmould.co.uk/2012/11/a-pot-of-gold/">'Landscape Photographer of the Year'</a> competition, , i decided to revisit the files from the day and after much water spot removal i came up with this crop...
this light is pretty much as it was... naturally saturated... Rannoch Moor Rainbow
Wonderful colours on this lovely little Loch in Perthshire... Perthshire....
A different view and crop from my recent trip to Glencoe ... amazing how still the water was in this 20 second exposure...
